Theory on the Root of all Evil (of modern times)
An excerpt from a discussion on a messageboard stemming from the topic of the new Lewis Black show Root of all Evil premiering this wednesday (03:12) on Comedy Central.
Q: What do you deem as the ultimate evil in Pop Culture?
A:
Theres no question everything that has been said already on here, has some form of evil (or evilness) attached to it; but I would like to suggest the theory that the root of all evil in our modern time would have to be the mass media conglomerates, wherein all forms of publicized and broadcast news, whether it be by television, radio, literature, has all become a source of mass degredation and corruptor of personal knowledge and common sense. There seems to be no sense of ethics in journalism anymore, as all straight facts investigative journalists have been bought out by corporations founded on marketing, lust for ratings (to bring in the overcharged price for advertisements) and dc lobbyists (that help the public feel there is no need for antitrust when it comes to broadcast); that most of what any news on a mass market scale can genuinely be viewed for what it is ... propaganda and commercial spam to shove their materials, personal faith, opinions, and ideas to the mass public, for the spite of free thinking and personal resolve; its a mass campaign of ingorance and intolerance against anything spited by the media moguls on a national scale.

All valid arguments, but at the root of which, lies fundamental propagandist campaigns brought about by personal opinions and motives of those with the power to broadcast, in the quest for higher ratings, higher profit, and intolerance to the publics natural perception, to decree that is whats natural (truth, honesty, and open correspondance) is bad for us, and that is whats material (ignorance, fame, ego, and greed) is somehow good for us and our feeling of self worth.
