Prologue
She’s always so stupid assuming things will be any different then they usually are. They’re stuck in a constant circle of betrayal and lies, in misery and despair. They’re torturous love bound to be the death of at least one of them.
He keeps cheating, she keeps taking him back, she swears that this line of coke will be her last and he keeps drying her out when she falls off the wagon and every act of violence they partake in after a night of getting drunk and wasted always somehow ends with them falling into bed with each other.
They were doomed from the start, from the very first glance they’d shared across a crowded lunch room many years ago. She’d known then that he’d be her undoing, and she’d welcomed him with open arms.
He was dark and mysterious; a high school bad boy who came into her world and rocked it like it had never been rocked before. They were the perfect teen rebellion couple and despite the warnings of her best friends, despite his friends constant ribbing about their leader dating a punk rock cheerleader and despite the voices in the back of their minds telling them to run like the wind away from each other they clung instead.
The noises from their bedroom make her sick, hearing him, hearing what he’s doing and who he’s doing it with, she rushes to the toilet and the next thing she knows her stomach feels empty, the toilet bowl is full and the air smells repugnant.
She stumbles out to the lounge and she picks up her car keys and makes a mad dash for freedom. When he’s finished he’ll notice that she’s nowhere insight and he’ll figure out she’s once again walked in on him doing the things he wasn’t supposed to.
He’ll give her a few days and then he’ll go get her, he always knows exactly where she is because every time she leaves him she always goes to the same place and to the same person.
He’ll beg her to take him back, he’ll cry a few tears and promise he’ll never do it again and she’ll believe him because that’s just what she does and they’ll reunite.
For awhile everything will be fine, he’ll manage to keep his word and they’ll be as close to happy as either of them can be.
But then the circle begins again.
