It's funny how you gave Kimutaku his own section . . the guy's a prolific actor, but I don't find his drama that much different from others in theme.

Yup, he has his own section, I think the Dorama King deserves one. *LOL* Well, actually he's the very first Japanese actor who has enamored me, thus, I'm quite proud of my Takuya Dorama collection.

But I agree with you that his doramas doesn't often offer any difference from other themes. As such, I tend to favor his doramas with DARK THEMES, not those mushy and "I'm struggling in career" themes. One exception though is "Love Generation" which can me categorized as a usual love story, but this is my very FIRST dorama, and this is where I came to know Takuya so -it has a special place in my heart.

Unfortunately, Engine is not one of my faves. I love Takuya's interaction with the kids, but he simply has no chemistry with his leading lady in this dorama. Lastly, I'm tired of the "struggling in career" as a theme. Takuya seems to be always in those kinds of roles.

Dragonzakura is okay. It's not that I don't like it, it has one star. When I don't like the drama, it doesn't get any stars. =P

I have yet to watch The Queen's Classroom and Trick. I have some good feedback about those two. I was able to watch a few episodes of Love in the Center of World, but, too much sadness is gripping me in this drama that why I have to stop watching in the middle.

It looks like you enjoy kdramas more
I used to love Kdramas but not as much as I love Jdoramas now. Kdramas have tooo many episodes, it tends to drag in the middle, so now, I make sure that the Kdramas I watch should be highly recommended. I tend to favor Jdoramas because I could watch it one go.

I'm very glad that someone from dorama_chat community has left me a comment, so I THANK YOU. :)

Dark themes, huh? You might wanna check out a taiga drama then if you have a few months to spare. Otherwise, yeah, I'm a bit disappointed that most jdramas are more slapstick comedy escapism than dark.

Oh, I thought "no stars" meant you just hadn't gotten around to ranking it. ^_^ I didn't think the chemistry between Kimutaku and Koyuki was important since Engine isn't a romance. I thought it was more of a friendship.

Yeah, I'd love to watch a few more kdramas but they're just way too long. Actually, jdramas are starting to feel pretty long too since most of them contain a lot of filler. I've recently moved on to watching movies instead. :)

Hm, I thought most people commenting on this thread came from dorama_chat? ^_^

I've seen Yamashita Tomohisa's Byakkotai and Takuya Kimura's Chusinguura 1/47, those are Taiga, I believe?? But they are Drama Specials and not full length drama. Still, those are my favorites, I enjoy watching them.

Dark themes are really rare - and to name some, my faves are One Million Stars from Sky and Kou Kou Kyoushi.

Oh, I thought "no stars" meant you just hadn't gotten around to ranking it. ^_^
But when on bold letters, I've already seen those... plain text meant haven't touch those. :)

Sorry for the late response, I just got back from space. ;) Rie cleared up the taiga stuff. I'm working on my Top 10 movies, but it's still many years in the making. :) Right now, my favorite English film is either Chicago or Stranger than Fiction. My favorite Foreign film is either Shaolin Soccer or Ima Ai ni Yukimasu. How about you?
