I need two beta readers, one knowledgeable about the canon and one who doesn't know it very well, if at all, to edit an essay for me.
The essay in question is an Introduction to Green Lantern Corps (the title) and is specifically intended to help people intimidated by the back canon become comfortable with it enough to start reading the title.
What I need from the knowledgeable beta: Did I leave anything out that you feel the reader needs to know in order to start reading the title? (Note that I didn't go into anything that you learn through reading the title. The point is to get them reading, not to summarize the book.) Is there anything in there that the reader doesn't really need to know? Is the info given accurate, taking into account that it is super-condensed? Can you cut 200 words out somewhere? (It's a bit longer than I'd like.)
What I need from the beta who doesn't know the canon: Does it make sense? Does it make you interested in the title? Do you think you would be comfortable picking up the title and reading it after this, assuming it did pique your interest?
Welcome from both: Spelling and grammer corrections, and suggestions for joke. So not kidding; I wish I was funnier.
Please comment if you're interested!
