I would like to note that while homemade cleaning solutions may be a nice, environmentally friendly, cheap thought, there is something to be said for commercial products that work.
This message brought to you by the oil and lemon juice concoction I used to attempt to remove visible scratches from my dining room table (but which instead left the table horribly sticky)...
...the soap and water, hot vinegar, plain lemon juice, and Mr Clean magic eraser I used to attempt to remove the stickiness (two of which took the finish off; thank God I tested them all in a discreet spot first)...
...and the spray bottle of Pledge that fixed both problems (stickiness and scratches) in about 30 seconds.
