I've had this giant list of stuff I mean to post about for the last three weeks or so. Time to start working on actually posting about them! Some of them are a...bit out of date. But oh well. :-)
First up, Free Comic Book Day! The plan was to make the rounds of comic shops with
tartary_lamb and
maiea. Alas, I had to go to the gym for personal training at 1:30pm, so I knew I'd only make the first couple of stops. As it turned out, I only made the first stop. I picked up the Iron Man and Thor issue there, plus a Toy Story one. Haven't read the Iron Man and Thor one yet (I might not; I didn't realize when I picked it up that it was by Fraction). I resisted the Hero Clix and a couple other things, because I'm trying very hard to limit and reduce the clutter in my space.
The reason I didn't make any other stops is because there was a gigantic line up at the second comic shop we went to. We waited in line for 45 minutes before I had to leave to go to the gym, and we weren't anywhere near the door by the end of that time. However! The wait was not exactly a hardship, because the comic shop had invited costumers to come hang out for a charity photo shoot. There was Phoenix, Tenth Doctor, Ariel, Iron Fist, a Red Lantern, I caught a glimpse of Captain America, and, best of all, Deadpool.
If you're going to cosplay Deadpool, you've got to have a hell of a lot of personality and some courage. This guy had both. He spent a fair bit of time climbing all over an ambulance! No idea why the ambulance was there; the paramedics were next to it and didn't seem bothered.
