Guy Gardner is awesome. I love Green Lanterns in general but Guy is special :)

I can only blame my roots in Marvel for failing to come to Green Lantern as a 'verse. Superhero Space Opera! This is so far up my alley it's scary.

Guy totally snuck up on me. He's definitely special. :-D

I love this quote from the Jumped at the Call page.

(underlined section is my addition, not part of the original page)

Guy Gardner in The DCU. Not only does he revel in being a Green Lantern, but whenever his powers get taken away, he goes out and finds entirely new powers. He even spent a brief period as a Bad Ass Normal before Executive Meddling gave him tattoos and morphing powers. Guy didn't just jump at The Call, he tackled it and made it his bitch.

*laughs* I LOLed at this, too, but quoted the other one because it went into more detail about what his various new powers were. *g*

I <3 Guy.

The One Punch bit makes me wibble. Bye Bye Bats makes me laugh, but mostly because of Kyle's facepalm. *grins*

I haven't read JLI, just seen a few isolated scans. I'm not sure I can handle the brain damage storylines...

YEAH. THAT. It's crack. Utter crack. And then it gets ...something whent hey kill off almost everyone who was ever a member of the team and...yeah. That's what the new release of JLI is going to be. The angst I can do. The crack of the 80s and 90s? Uhm, thanks, I'll pass. (Generation Lost is the remaining members of the JLI trying to find out who wants them all dead, focus on Booster Gold).

Uhm, the original One Punch (not just the Rebirth one) is Bats punching Guy, and Dinah freaking out she missed the whole thing. Which, from the page I've seen, is indeed snicker worthy. Which makes the Rebirth punch a little better. And Bye Bye Bats is indeed because Kyle is all "ohgod *facepalm*" and Brucie going "...he needs to shave"

Erk. This makes me sad. Heck, even before I read any DC Comics, I had read Boostle fic and was sad that Ted Kord died just from reading that. I hope they bring him back eventually, even if it's not in the role of the Blue Beetle.

See, I can normally handle the crack, but the angst kills me. I don't want my entertainment to make me unhappy. I can only really tolerate angst if I know there's a happy ending coming.

Check out duskdog717's lj. She writes the best (and also kind of the only) Guy fic around. I'm especially fond of Guy's hypothetical compaign ads were he to run for president and the one where Guy adopts a cat (quote: he can't help but feel a special kinship with something that no one wants because it's loud and violent and quite possibly insane). (more Guy's cat fics hereI *heart* Guy all to pieces -- I love Hal because there's pretty much no way I was going to not like the fighter pilot character and his arrogance is often the kind of arrogance some fighter pilots have IRL, and John Stewart will always be 'the real GL' to me due to my seeing toonverse first, and Soranik Natu is awesome, but Guy is my favorite. He never gives up, never mopes, is too snarly to admit he cares about people but really does, and consistantly manages, especially recently in Green Lantern Corp, to be a real, honest-to-god hero yet also simultaneously kind of a jackass. And he and Kyle Rainer are weirdly cute together despite the fact that I mostly ship Guy/Tora ( ... )

*grins* I'd already read about half her stuff when I made this post. Now I'm going back and reading the het and some of the slash I'd skipped, because there is Not Enough Guy Fic out there. She's about 99% of it.

YES! OMG, I loved both of those so much. I have them book marked to make sure I send feedback. The one supporting gay marriage cracked me up so much I read it out loud to my roommate. *g*

I like pretty much all the GLs (though I don't know John too well; that'll change soon now that he and Kyle will be anchoring GLC), but Guy is just...special. Guy is just...special. He's been through so much shit, has been treated so badly by so many people who should have cared about him, and yet he's still a person who is so dedicated to being a hero.

*nods* And unlike many comics heroes, he doesn't angst and brood about all the shit he's been through. Guy manages to have relatively little manpain desoite having way more reasons for it than some superheroes who are practically drowning in it do. (My father physically abused me! Then I was in a coma! And one of my friends stole my girlfriend while I was in said coma! And then I got a new girlfriend and she died!)

Yes! My brain had not consciously realized it, but the moment I read this I went, "Oh, hey, she's totally right!" And that's totally a big part of why I like him, because brooding, wallowing characters do not really appeal to me. I like character who really embrace their lives and their calling. And boy, does Guy embrace being a Green Lantern! *g*
