shackles for the win!

I've been rereading and flipping through Execute Program lately and I have to share/ask...

Is it wrong of me to find this image deeply hot?

And in the "that has to be fan service" category, in the next two pages (here and here) Tony takes off the top half the jumpsuit and sits there bare-chested for no apparent reason ( Read more... )

I <3 Patrick Zircher so much. He should draw Tony - and, well, everyone - always.

God, yes. I found an interview with him saying he'd like to be on Iron Man for awhile. It makes me sad that, for some reason, he only actually got 8 issues. :-( He's so good at drawing expressions! And, you know, hot Tony. *g*

Huh, I actually had some problems with the art during Execute Program. But I did find myself wondering why he loved me so much - there was tanktop wearing Tony, shirtless Tony, randomly blond Tony. :)

Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I think this art is my favorite Tony art yet, with the first three volumes of New Avengers being a close second.

Oh yeah. Lots of tastiness in Zircher's run. I didn't really go for randomly blond Tony, myself, but I'm ridiculously predictable that way. I have a type. *g*

I like the idea of randomly blond Tony more than the execution. I want to write my own blond-Tony-on-the-run-story. Some day. When I have time. Set somewhere there's a great beach. He decides to learn to surf, in order to fit in, but just doesn't get it, and spends all his time working on cars and computers. Then when he comes out of hiding and Clint makes fun of his disguise, he's all "Hey, Clark Kent wore glasses. Glasses."

Also, possibly, I might be able to get behind Tony in glasses...

Anyway, I found the art in that run creepily pointy.

Trying to picture Tony as a blond surfer dude made me giggle. *grins* He's just too attached to his technology to spend too much time lounging on the beach.

Hmmmm. Yeah...that could be good. :-) Possibly older!Tony in wire rimmed reading glasses. *has a weakness for older men*

Anyway, I found the art in that run creepily pointy.

I thought "pointy?" and went for another look, and you're right, it is very pointy. I like the pointy style, but it's interesting how it jumped out at you and I didn't even notice it until I went to specifically look. But then, I don't have much of a technical eye for art! I just know what I like. :-)

*grins* It's a hell of a crush. My brain randomly chirps "Tony Stark!" at me sometimes these days. *facepalm* But I'm having tons of fun. I just hope I don't alienate my flist!

Hee. I completely understand, I wasn't judging you! It's just funny becuase I love Tony but my deep, irrational Avengers crush is Steve, so I have the same thing except in reverse. People will piss me off at work and I'll be like, Captain America! and then it will be better.

(God. He's so adorable.)

I should post some random crush babblings one day, I've been neglecting my poor lj.

I didn't think you were. *g* Fandom is lovely that way. Although there are plenty of Tony-haters out there, but I knew you weren't one of them. :-)

Hee! The two are a matched set as far as I'm concerned, so even if I love Tony more, I have deep affection for Steve, too. *g*

I completely understand your view of hotness.

Now I want to reread again. *g*

Doooo it! It's so worth it. Shackled Tony, randomly shirtless Tony, clothes-shredding-off-for-no-reason Tony, crying Tony, disheveled Tony, randomly blond Tony, Tony sacrificing himself for Steve...the list goes on *g*

Hm, I believe I'm going to go with *squee* I was just rereading that one and Extremis yesterday~ I think I like the art better in Extremis - smoother, more touchable - but the Execute Program art is so sharply tasty ^________^

Also, prison!Tony and half-jumpsuit!Tony? GUH. Yes. Pls.

Personally, I don't like the art in Extremis. It's too photorealistic for my taste. But more than that, it's very still. It's so photorealistic that it looks like snapshots of the action; there's no sense of motion, of things happening.

That said, I can acknowledge aesthetically that it is very pretty. :-) And I do like the armor in that style.

Tony needs to be tied up and naked more often. *g* Possibly at the same time. Mmmmm.

Mmm, the way it works in my brain - I love the art style in Extremis BECAUSE it's so touchable looking. But it's CLEARLY static. It's NOT a good style for comic books because it fails to convey any sense of movement, but it pleases my eye. Execute Program has the most delicious COMIC BOOK STYLE art of all the trades I've read so far :) UNF.

See this? This is my 'I'm not objecting' face - aka the 'Yes, please!' face, also the 'No, seriously, PLEASE?' face ^___________^ Preferably being saved by Steve, since I don't see how he'd actually con Steve into tying him up in the first place?

*pulls out Extremis and has another look* It is very smooth, but I don't know about touchable. Or maybe it's just that when I think of touchable, I think of visible, realistic texture, like this. All the texture there is painted; the actual canvas is totally smooth (or so anecdotes from the artist say).

Although there are some frames that are weirdly...inviting. I think I see what you mean by 'touchable'. Not so much as in texture you can feel as in a sense of "reach out and handle me".

What does UNF stand for? Anyway, I'd love to see Adi Granov do an original piece that was meant to be still, because I don't think he's very well suited to this medium. Makes me wonder how he got into it. I ( ... )
