You know what's sad? When you go to put together recs for a fandom and realize that all the stories that you want to rec (which haven't already been recced in one forum or another) are your own.
Authors, oh authors, won't you come back to NCIS fandom?

"Your 10am is here." a voice called out from the office door.
"Thank you, Brenda." Tony DiNozzo called out over his shoulder, never moving from in front of his office window.
The view from the twenty second floor of Calcon Towers was a phenomenal citycaspe, but his eyes failed to take in the sights. Too much was weighing on his mind for him to be distracted by the skyline, recent events causing him to re-evaluate everything he normally took for granted.
The press was having a field day covering the 'tragedy' that was his life since yesterday, the wild stories already too much for him to take. But Tony couldn't find it in himself to care.
Kate was dead and he was responsible.
"Mr DiNozzo." called out a new voice, pulling his attention back in to his office.
"Mr Gibbs." he greeted as he turned to faced his guests. "Ms David." nodding to them in greeting.
"I assume you know why you're here."
"Yes." answered Gibbs, eyeing Tony carefully.
Tony wondered what the man saw when he looked at him, whether it was the careless playboy image he'd cultivated over the years, or if he saw deeper, to who Tony really was.
Like Kate had. She'd seen through his bullshit from the minute they'd met, and wasn't shy about calling hiim on it. She had been the only person to every really get to know him, becoming his closest friend.
A quick glance at Gibbs' associate let Tony know what she saw - the rich, careless playboy who had gotten his girlfriend killed.
"I'm wondering why you didn't beef-up security two years ago when you first started getting these threats." Gibbs questioned, showing that he'd read the file that was sent to him this morning.
"Who says I didn't?" Tony asked lightly.
"No extra personnel. No addition surveillance. No change in your social activities." stated Ziva David. By the accusatory tone, he knew she was already blaming him for Kate's death. 'You made an easy target,' was unspoken.
"If I'd suddenly started going around surrounded by a mob of bodyguards, everyone would know something was up." Tony said, turning his scathing gaze onto the former Mossad agent.
"Everything I do affects my company. If I start hiding behind a security detail, the public - the shareholders - start to lose confidence in the company. Share prices start to plummet; competitors begin to push any advantage; the vultures start to circle."
"Besides," he added. "it wasn't the first or last death threat I've received."
"So you continued on, ignoring the dangers, and your girlfriend paid the price." she accused.
"Ziva." came the quiet reprimand from Gibbs, his gaze never leaving Tony. "But these threats were different, weren't they."
"Yeah. They were." he confimred, wondering if the older man would figure it out.
Despite the fact that Tony had invited Gibbs' and his associate here, he knew instinctively that the other man was evaluating him, as well. On Tony's part, the decision had been made already, but neither of his guests needed to know that. They'd come highly recommended, from someone he'd trusted with his life.
"Who was she?" Gibbs asked, his eyes taking on a calculating look.
"You mean Kate?" replied Tony, his attention focussed on the other man. Gibbs remained silent, awaiting an answer.
"She was a friend who was doing me a favour," Tony said, "and it ended up costing her her life."
"She was ex-Secret Service," added Gibbs, and Tony nodded, already feeling more confident in this man's ability to protect him.
"Like I said, she was a friend who was doing me a favour I can never repay."
