So I haven't posted in a while. I figure I wanted to talk about a few movies...so I'd get my thoughts out here...
First of all, X3. Good movie, if I wasn't such a rabid fanboy of the X-Men, I wouldn't care about a lot of the deviations from the storyline. I was pissed when I first saw it, and there are still some things that piss me off about it. Namely that the character in the movie named Psylocke exhibited none of the powers of the character, and the fact that there was no visual representation of the Phoenix other than Jean Grey's altered features. Otherwise I felt they did a good job, and realize I have to treat it as a different reality from the comics. This shouldn't be too hard, seeing as the comics do the same thing every couple years anyway.
Nacho Libre. Not as funny as I hoped. I didn't laugh the entire first half of the movie, and only chuckled at parts of the second half. Maybe it will have the Napoleon Effect and get funnier with each viewing, although I really have no desire to watch it again. If you want to see a funny movie, go see Click. I laughed out loud, and the story was very well done. Christopher Walken is still my hero.
Superman Returns. It scared me. I thought the ghost of Christopher Reeve had taken posession of Brandon Routh's body. Basically, I thought it was awesome. Brandon Routh did an excellent job, even looking indistinguishable from Reeve in certain scenes. Spacey as Luther was even better. I also got some good humor out of James Marsden, just out of the fact that no matter what comic book movie he's in, he never gets the girl. The only real problem I had with the movie was the illegitimate Superboy. He's Superman, he doesn't go around impregnating reporters and leaving for 5 years, then comes back to raise his child from afar. No...just...NO.
Spiderman 3. The rumor mill is rolling. Here's my take on the movie (don't read any further if you want to be surprised, I know a little bit about the story, and I think most of what I'm about to say will happen in the movie). We have Spiderman obtaining the symbiote. The main conflict in the movie will be between Spidey and the symbiote. We have sandman, who is perhaps hired by Harry to exact revenge on Spidey. Either way we get a battle or two with Sandman in the city. There is also talk of Bruce Campbell playing Mysterio, but it wouldn't amount to more than his other 2 appearances in the Spiderman movies. He would just be defeated and go home with his tail between his legs, maybe to return in the 4th one to have the same thing happen. So then we have Spiderman do some terrible things while bonding with the symbiote. He might do some naughty things with Gwen Stacy that piss of Mary Jane. I think that the last straw for Spiderman will be killing either Sandman or quite possibly even Harry Osborn, who is seen with part of the Green Goblin gear on. I think that earlier in the movie the character of Eddie Brock will be established, and after Peter does whatever horrific thing he will do, he goes to a church and realizes the weakness of the symbiote when the bell tolls. He will rid himself of it, and the symbiote will run to Brock. Brock will have followed Spiderman to the chruch, discovering that Peter was Spiderman as he was removing the symbiote. Thus Venom will be born. Peter will then get his red and blues and have a final battle with the remaining villain, be it Sandman or Green Goblin 2(Harry). I really think that Spiderman will have killed Harry while bonded with the symbiote, leaving the final battle to be with Sandman. At the end of the battle I beleive that Venom will appear, biting Sandman and poisoning him, resulting in his death. As a result of Peter's anger toward the symbiote, as well as it's infamiliarity with it's new host, Venom will be defeated. However, I believe he will then be the main villain in Spiderman 4. Tadaa!
And finally,
they be martians?
Crazy.
