Pointless wondering because Keks.

I remember one comment in my journal about how it was kinda stupid of Fado to stay back to get himself killed while Eirika and Seth flee. And well, if we take what he says about his reasons at face value, I agree. His death is pretty much pointless. But after some thinking I don't believe him completely ( Read more... )

Late response, but as I just started SS, this chapter is fresh in my mind. I think Fado was in the right to stay behind. He knew he was sacrificing himself, and he knew he had a purpose - not only protecting his daughter's life, but also protecting the bracelet, which in extension, protects the Stone, protects the land...

And come on. What kind of king abandons his throne. ;_;
(Well, one that wants to live to take it back. But w/e.) I think he trusted in his children to win Renais back, and he had to give them the opportunity to do so. Maybe he worried if he'd fled and been caught, he wouldn't be killed, he'd be tortured for information. But if he's sitting on the throne they want, he kinda *has* to get killed.

Yeah, the sentence "a captain sinks with his ship" came to mind when I thought about that.

By now I have thought a bit more about it and I believe that the biggest reason why he is staying is that he wants to know "why?". Raphi/or Mark were right when they said that an attack of that scale is unheard of and Fado would surely like to know "what the fuck is going on".
