As I'm now playing FF12 again and just finished the Lighting House shenanigans (Dr. Cid, you are one crazy guy. Also, you suck), I noticed how inaccurate the German subtitles are. In some places it really jumps at you, in some cases it's just rephrased but still says the same and in some cases the change is so subtle you barely pick it up. In Ridorana, it jumps at you. And the English "original" is better. The subtle cases are mean when you're a fanfic writer and needs every line for characterization. It's never a biiiiig  change, but it is a change. Compare:

Ondore: I once knew a girl whose greatest wish was to be carried in her uncle´s arms. -- in the English version.

Ondore: I once knew a girl whose greatest wish was to fall asleep/sleep in her uncle´s arms. -- in the German version.

It does make a difference in Ashelia´s characterization, which I do not find unimportant.

Man, not too happy. And in most cases I only have one version, so I cannot truly compare every game. Ah, but translations can be tricky.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaalso. Balthier, it is totally obvious that you're jealous of Al-Cid´s awesomeness. And his sexy, sexy accent. Game needs more Ondore and Al-Cid.

Edit: I'm reeeeeeeeeeally surprised that my old Gamecube games sell the best oO Did not expect that.

stuff, final fantasy
