she was only four years young
her life was set to change
nothing left to take from her
it all just seemed so strange
daddy left she dont know why
she heard up to the clouds
momma said he fought to death,
he served the country proud.
but as she stands and hear her sobs
she asks her sister why
"why did daddy have to leave
we never got to say goodbye..."
at four years old she knows no more
than seeing empty space
the place where daddy used to rock her
besides the fireplace.
he used to hold her as she cried
and sang her soft to sleep
in that chair, later she saw,
momma break down and weep.
"daddys gone so far away,
but he's done that before.
my daddy was a soldier,
he was taken by the war."
I don't know where that came from.
Go search for "How do you get that lonely" ((yes, it's country)), I love that song. It made me cry...
I don't know. Almost hits too close to home, but I love it nonetheless.
