Another letter, this one more telling than the last.

If anyone needs me I'll be away. Personal business. Leave a message on my voice mail or something. I'll get it eventually.

[Private to Anko, Havoc, Riza, and Roy]I'm done waiting. I've emailed copies of the latest letter, and all this waiting might get Luke killed. I've already purchased ( Read more... )

It's a coincidence that's been taking into consideration, Kurenai, trust me. Ryuzaki's own connection of contacts and details have been hard to follow, something I'm not entirely surprised with. But it does seem like he hasn't touched any of his "resources" in some time, even if to make an effort to look into this case. It seems that he's been restricted somehow.

The only reason I'm telling you this is that we know, Kurenai. We're doing our best to put some cuffs on someone, and bring him home. We are going to bring him home. Don't do anything rash like going off yourself.

You know I've always been a hundred percent in believing in your smarts and logic, but this isn't logical. Kurenai, it's not going to do any of us any good if you go in there totally unplanned. I've told Anko about my opinion in letting you come in the first place, and I'm going to say what I told her: this is field work, this is my part of the job where you've always been worried about, all those nights that I didn't call you back. You know the risks, you know what happens to an officer when things that aren't planned usually goes wrong.

And God held me if I let you go on your own into this when we're ready to go. For Ryuzaki, he's a smart kid, Kurenai, grant him that. He's been through a lot and he's Detective L for crissakes. For once, think of him not like a son but as a detective who knows the risks. This is what we're trained for Kurenai, and in two more days we're going to stop his pain. But until then, he can handle it.

Don't do it, Kurenai.

Fine, good luck.

Far be it from me to do anything that might ruin what any of you have carefully set up. I can only hope that when you find Luke he's willing to go with one of you. If not, I suggest you contact Roger.

Worry not, I'll keep out of your hair from now on.
