You know, I'm really getting sick of people who find out I'm from Boston and automatically ask me if it's anything like The Boondock Saints or The Departed. Both are great movies, which I love, but seriously people - give it a rest.

Admittedly, I grew up in South Boston, get quite the accent when I'm annoyed or flustered, and I do have an ( Read more... )

Whoa, you're from Boston, too??? EPIC!! ^___________^ It's killer to know there's another tried-and-true to-the-core Red Sox fan around (no self-respecting Bostonian likes the Yankees - 'course, it's hard to believe the Yankees like the Yankees); San Franciscans just don't get it.

Do you miss all the amazing food at Faneuil Hall and in the North End too? What I wouldn't give for a cannoli from Mike's Pastry...

Born and bred, moved out here when I was fourteen. And damn straight, the Red Sox rock hardcore! They really don't get it, then again they seem to think that Boston is on the other side of the world so I don't expect them to get it.

I do, but I'm lucky in that my father still lives in Southie and occasionally sends me care packages. If there's anything you want I can see if I can get some for you.

Smart lady, you are. ^^ We're gonna kick ass so hard next season that it'll make people's heads spin (and we Sox fans will get to laugh at 'em the whole time, 'cause we knew it was coming!). But geez, I know what you mean. I can't tell ya how many times I've been asked to "park the car in the Harvard Yard" - it's like it's some kinda weird novelty! Yeesh! ><

Ooh... I think I love you. Think you could manage Italian food? And I mean real Italian food, like what you find in those yummy family-run North End bistros where the nice nonna that built the place and still comes in every Friday afternoon speaks in broken English and an accent so thick you have to learn some Italian in order to talk to her about more than two or three things. There's just nothing like that around here -- and if there is, I haven't found it.

Thanks, right back at you. ^^ Oh yeah, other teams won't know what hit them. Things are looking up and it'll be our day again in no time. When I first moved out here and my accent was really strong people acted like I was from another planet. Then The Departed came out and now people are all about our accents. Craziness!

There's this little place my father loves to frequent called La Famiglia Giorgio, classic Italian with a great atmosphere. They make a lasagna that would make you weep. I planned on calling him tomorrow to get some lobster and chowder, so I'll ask for some food from there as well.

Hee. The looks on the Yankees faces when we beat 'em cold in that brand-new stadium of theirs they're so proud of will be the total highlight of the season, really. Well... the highlight until we take the American League and the World Series, anyway. The Yankees suck too much to top that. I still grin remembering the series against 'em in '01 - that Grand Slam Ortiz hit was just BEAUTIFUL. California in general should just join the Red Sox bandwagon if they like our accents so much; they'd hear it plenty at games.

I told you I love you, right? Because I love you. I really, really, really love you. I mean, I love ramen to hell and back (it's the ambrosia gods ate on Olympus), but Italian is a wicked close second. ...Ask him to go heavy on the desserts, and I'll glomp you into next week I'll love you so much.
