a walk in nature

First off, I'd like to welcome the people from embodiment . :D I posted a few entry pages there, which are here if anyone would like to see.

I haven't posted recently because I've been writing in my journal! That's exciting.

Today, mom, Leo, and I went to a nature trail in Lafayette. I took my camera along and took a few pictures. The batteries already had started dying, even though I just put them in last night!
It was really great there, though a bit hotter than I thought it would be. Last time I had gone was in autumn so everything was dying. Also, several of the older trails were blocked by GIANT SPIDER WEBS. I did learn something interesting at the nature station, though. The spiders that I've called banana spiders all my life are also called golden orb weaver spiders. Their webs, I hadn't previously noticed, are actually golden and yellowish in hue. It's also apparently stronger than most other spider webs. There is actually a tapestry, on display at the American Museum of Natural History, woven from the silk of these spiders and it's a lovely golden color.
Anyway, it was very enjoyable there and mom and Leo didn't even fight once, which is a great accomplishment. I took a few pictures, despite my camera on the verge of death. I'll have to upload those later.
