on wrists and grandfathers

A couple of weeks ago, my grandfather went to his doctor because he thought he had a minor stroke. His left hand was numb and he had a few other problems that sort of pointed to that. My mom told me and Leo how he's a hypochondriac and tends to think that he has whatever he hears about lately, so we shouldn't worry.
So he gets there and they do some tests and announce that he may have brain cancer. More tests are done and nothing definitive is found out yet. Then, he goes to Houston for yet more tests and a biopsy. Saturday, we found out that it is, indeed, brain cancer. Pa said pretty much that he's going to fight it. Nothing else to it.

Today, I went to a wonderful store called Heaven on Earth. They sell all sorts of things and have Qigong and yoga classes. They sell literature on spirituality and beautiful music, incense, candles, gorgeous jewelry, and they also sell crystals and gemstones. I've been there several times before and have gotten a lot of my stones there. This time, I went specifically for my grandfather, to get healing stones for him. I talked with one of the owners and he suggested stones, and I picked four that "called" to me. The first was an interestingly shaped bloodstone, which is really good for healing. It also aids with courage. An interesting note about that one was that it kept falling. It fell out of my hand right when I picked it up, then again when I went to bring it to the counter to pay for it. Then, the owner dropped it when he was about to put it in a little bag for me. He said that was because it has a lot of energy.
Then, I picked a beautiful, dark amethyst. It's so dark, you can't tell it's purple unless you hold it to the light. The amethyst is an excellent stone for protection. It is also known as the "Stone of Transformation."
The third stone was a long, egg-shaped jade. They are for balance and healing and clear away anxiety and fear emotions. It is most commonly associated with luck, prosperity, and longevity.
The last stone I picked was a triangular-shaped tiger's eye. This is an excellent grounding stone. It is well known to be a stone for protection and courage. It helps to aid in clearing feelings of anxiety or nervousness.
Tomorrow, I'm going to cleanse them and program them, then give them to Pa when I go visit him. I may go to Houston on Saturday. Leo's going bring him home. They can treat him close to home, which is good. The original plan was to have Leo going back and forth from Opelousas to Houston several times a week, bringing Pa around. Thankfully, he won't have to do that.

In other news, yesterday, my right wrist just suddenly started hurting. I hadn't massaged anyone recently, and I don't think I hit it on anything. So, I wore mom's wrist brace and used some Biofreeze on it. It felt a bit better today. Hopefully, nothing is wrong with it. Injured wrists for a massage therapist are pretty much the death of their careers.

Speaking of massage therapy, this is my last month of class. Then I'll have to study my ass off so I can go take my test. There are two, the MBLEX (don't ask me what it stands for, I don't know), which is pretty much the national exam, then the state test, which is just the laws and ethics. That test is oral.

Oh, I got a tattoo. A pawprint on my inner wrist. Not the one that's been hurting. The tattoo hurt like hell, though.
And I redid the temples in Zelda. I'm on the final boss fight, but I keep dying because I have a hard time hitting the dood with my sword repeatedly.
In any case...!
