We just got back from cycling to Bath along the cycle track (which is 14 miles, counting the 1 mile back from the train station on the way home). I am in muchus pain. But it was fun.
It was really nice to be out in the country surrounded by all the rolling hills. It's hay cutting time, so loads of the fields are yellow. England's patchwork.
We stopped half way cuz Luke wanted to go for a swim in the river, and I went paddling knee deep in the water. The silt was really soft, but I kept sinking! I was trying to corral all the minnows and sprats like the dolphins do, but it didn't really work...But then I spent ages watching the banded damselflies flying around the lilies under the tree branches, trying not to sink in the silt by standing on the roots. There were loads of males, which are this beautiful iridescent blue colour with black bands on their wings. Then a female showed up (they're an emerald colour) and a pair of them started mating. It's a really pretty courtship, they end up making a heart shape with their bodies as they mate.
Also saw some kind of dragonfly chasing after flies in the air, and saw a heron by the river. No squirrels though, which is weird as there's normally loads of them along there, it's all woodland.
But now I am in pain, seeing as I insist on having my saddle too low cuz I have to be able to put both feet on the ground while I'm riding, else I get scared. So my ass is kind of at the wrong angle when I cycle, and my legs don't extent as far as they should while I'm peddling. Ow.
