A/N: The first part in a series of fics, all about how the other heroes find out about Peter and Claire doing the dirty. Yes, as uncle and niece. Deal with it, yo.
Angela wasn't necessarily disappointed when Nathan's daughter came to live with the family after spending roughly six months in California before getting herself into trouble there too. She wasn't really enthused about it either which Claire took to mean that her grandmother hated her.
Both Peter and Nathan laughed when she told them her suspicions and even though she'd talked to them at seperate times, they both said the exact same thing.
That's just how she is.
She could stand to change a little, if you asked Claire.
It threw Claire for a loop when her grandmother stopped by her room on a Friday evening and announced that she was taking the blonde teenager shopping the next day. She needed a new wardrobe if she was going to be a part of the family. She didn't have to change her style. She just had to up the price tags.
And of course, Angela was going to pay for it all. That was why Claire agreed to go.
If she'd known that the next day in Angela speak was eight in the morning, she probably would've reconsidered. But it was too late to back out now, no one ever cancelled on Angela Petrelli at the last minute (except for maybe Peter and that was only because he was her favorite) and it wasn't that bad after Claire weasled some Starbucks out of her grandmother.
They hit half of Fifth Avenue before noon. Paused long enough to get some food and another cup of coffee since it was right there next to the restaurant and Claire could feel her strength waning a little. Then they started on the second half of the street. Angela was very opposed to even entering the lingerie store but Claire needed underwear, damnit, and were else was she going to get some if Angela wanted everything she wore to be pricey?
"Just... hurry up," Angela said, waving her black glove at her granddaughter.
Claire smiled slowly and darted off, winding her way through the racks. She picked out underwear, sure, lots of it even. In just about every style she came across. Including all the skanky ones.
Angela didn't notice her choices, of course. Claire was just that sneaky when she went for the dressing room. She just forgot to factor in that the dressing rooms blocked people from seeing her but they could hear her just fine.
"Hey, guess what?"
She paused, frowning slightly. "You did not seriously just wake up. What are you? Sixteen?" She laughed. "Whatever, you lazy bum."
Claire fiddled with the strap on the outfit she was wearing. She picked it out for him. Only right that she called him while wearing it and told him about it.
"No, I had a point. I'm shopping with the bio-grandma." Another pause as she listened. "Yeah, I know, right?" She laughed, adjusting her grip on the phone.
"I found something you might like." Pause. "Mhm, it's lacy, tiny and red and I think it actually shows more then it covers up." Claire laughed merrily.
"Don't choke on your cereal, Peter, I need you alive for I have in mind for tonight."
Angela froze. That couldn't possibly mean... No. No. There were lots of Peters in the world.
"No, I'm not going to send you a picture text," Claire said. "You're just going to have to wait until later, you perv... I'll be there around eight, okay? Maybe you could be the best boyfriend ever and be waiting for me in bed with the Chinese you promised me."
She laughed. "Yes, actually, the more naked you are, the better."
Claire hung up the phone after that little comment and started to reach for the underwear she walked in with. The chair in the dressing room was full of things she was going to buy with grandma's credit card. The tiny, lacy, red thing was buried somewhere in the middle, so Angela wouldn't see it since her eyes had a habit of wandering while waiting for the cashiers to finish ringing up purchases.
Angela purposely turned a blind eye to things that her granddaughter was buying. Claire didn't seem to know that almost her entire conversation had been overheard. Now would be the time to weasle information out of her.
"Are you doing anything tonight, Claire?" Angela asked, as the private car was taking them back to Nathan's house.
Claire tore her gaze away from the window and smiled at her grandmother. "I was going to hang out with Peter. It's his first day off in two weeks and he promised to get me Chinese to make up for ditching me for dying people last week."
Fuck.
