Arctic Monkeys, Wells Fargo Center, March 10th 2012. Yes, I'm aware that it was actually a Black Keys concert. But as it turns out, I don't know the entire depth of their discography, so I can't provide a set list for them.

(this wasn't the show i was at, but you get the idea)
I knew that they were going to play R U Mine, but I didn't anticipate exactly the thrill that would rack my body when it happened live and in person. But that pretty much goes for the rest of the set as well, though, the joy of seeing my favorite band in person, of feeling surrounded by them. I couldn't stop smiling, the whole time. The whole rhythm of my body moved to the baseline, like I knew always what was coming, and was comforted by it. This is now the third concert I've been to recently, and the third type of seating arrangement. Lawn sucked, the pit was cool because of the proximity to the Arctic Fucking Monkeys, but having actual seats? Yes. I'm a big fan of personal space, as it turns out, and of being able to see and not be elbowed jostling for position. The whole experience was much more relaxing, and I think I was able to absorb more on the whole without feeling exhausted.
I did know quite a few Black Keys songs, and don't get me wrong, they were good. I enjoyed being there, and didn't want to be anywhere else. They rocked that stadium, and I was feeling it. It wasn't quite the same thrill, though, because of the lulls that occurred whenever they played something I didn't know. It's just harder to being passionate about the unfamiliar, like jumping midway into a show about which you know nothing. Sometimes there was a connection, sometimes there wasn't. But I danced anyways, particularly to these:
Howlin' For You
Money Maker
Tighten Up
Run Right Back
Little Black Submarines
I Got Mine
Ten Cent Pistol
Lonely Boy
Everlasting Light- which had a disco ball and revolving lights. I may or may not have fallen into a trance of awesome on this one.
Summation: Continuing to love Arctic Monkeys. Resolving to listen to more Black Keys.
