Don't Fuck Wit' Badger

Got into a very public argument with a PI about that paper about reprogramming pancreatic exocrine cells into insulin-secreting B-islets. That paper is VERY popular, but I think it's all bullshit. Until they show me a karyotype of the induced cells, I think they just induced cell fusion between islet progenitors and the exocrines they infected. She thought that adult mice have no pancreatic stem cells. But they DO, bi-otch! Don't fuck with me about stem cells. I may be new at maintaining them, but I KNOW what the fuck I'm talking about.

Arguments with someone who isn't my mom are FUN! Ha, I'm clearly not depressed, just really bored. Really, really, really bored. And depressed. And bored.

::requisite cheer for Obama win:: It's annoying that everyone assumes that everyone else is a Democrat all of the time, though. In academia, at least. I'll never forget someone in one of my classics classes at Duke having a minor freak out about it. He was absolutely right. Every lecturer I've heard, even the foreign ones, work something offensive about Bush or Republicans into their talks. I don't know why. Last I heard, miRNAs and such have nothing to do with politics. I'm not a Democrat. I'm registered independent, but I am so far right on most issues that I make neo-cons look like commie hippies. I'm really old-school Republican (as in, get the government out of my face, yo). I'm liberal only on gay rights, the environment, and separation of church and state (it's weird how that belief is liberal now, since ya know, it's in the Constitution and all). Mostly I'm just for common sense. And competency. And the expansion of the death penalty. And protecting puppies and kitties. And the ends of welfare and donating money to corrupt charities overseas would be good, too, but I'll take what I can get.
