And now, Jason Marquis has been signed to a 3-year deal. He royally blew chunks last year, but he had two good seasons before that.

I'm with you on Dempster ... his closer days might be behind him. I'd like to see Kerry Wood close this year, with Dempster only filling that role if Kerry can't go due to his arm.

So, the rotation looks like this now
1. Carlos Zambrano
2. Ted Lilly
3. Rich Hill
4. Jason Marquis
5. Mark Prior or Wade Miller (if healthy). If neither is healthy, Neal Cotts (who I'm not sold on at all).

Hardly the dominating starting rotation we've expected the Cubs to have for some time. I think the starters are a weak link right now, but there is potential for them to be very good. I like Hill a lot. Lilly isn't a No. 2 starter, but if either Miller or Prior regains old form (and I'm not holding out hope), this rotation becomes VERY good. Lilly is a good No. 3 or 4. So is Marquis. So is Hill. There really aren't any weak links here if everyone is healthy.

The 'pen doesn't look terrible, either ...
