To avoid having to go to sleep or do practice plans for 6th-graders ...

Meme 1: Spell out your first name using only band names
C rosby & Nash
R ange (Bruce Hornsby's initial band)
I ron Maiden
M oody Blues
S pandau Ballet (or Spinal Tap, but they weren't a real band ... or were they?)
O 'Jays (with Andy Hollinden saying "don't you just want to make love to her right now during "Games People Play")
N azareth (putting together the worst cliche ever on AOR radio, "Love Hurts")
A sia (a supergroup that just wasn't that super)
C hicago (or Chicago Transit Authority, until the real CTA stepped in :) )
E arth, Wind and Fire (though I almost went with England Dan & John Ford Coley)

Have you ever had a song written about you?: I don't think so.

What song makes you cry?: The closing theme to any heavy movie.

What song makes you happy?: Just about anything by "Bruuuuuuce" Hornsby's band performed live.

What do you like to listen to before bed?: Not much. If anything, some long jammed-out Dead.

Name a song.: Obvious, like "I Am The Walrus" (which my students couldn't identify the other day) or not quite as obvious, like "So Into You" by the Atlanta Rhythm Section.

Who were your idols when you were younger?: Musically, probably Barbara Mandrell. Until I turned seven and developed taste. Eventually, John, Paul, George & Ringo (and later, Jerry Garcia & Bruce Hornsby).

First album you ever bought?: First CD I ever bought was Damn Yankees. First album, probably, was (and I'm ashamed to admit this) a vinyl copy of Motley Crue's Dr. Feelgood. Unfortunately, I no longer have it.

Name a song that reminds you of someone and why: I had a student come into my class with the same first name is a Jackson Browne song (a rather unusual first name). Now, I can't get said Jackson Browne song out of my head (FYI, the song is on "Running on Empty," one of the best live albums ever produced).
