... so I've watched "Prom" since only diary in my fridge is the emergency egg for when I forget to buy bread for breakfast.
I wasn't disappointed. The story hit every high school movie cliche You could possibly think of. We have a Little Miss Sunshine class president/prom organiser lead female, the I am Mr. Perfect guy she wants to go to prom with, the Misunderstood Rebel, the Cheating Jock, the Prom Queen, the Geek, the Shy Weird Guy Named Lloyd, the Perfect Couple... I could go on, but my new laptop table makes writing uncomfortable.
It was entertaining though. The dialogue was light and funny. I've laughed quite a few times. Well, giggled, but it still counts. Funniest moment for me was the Drivers Permit Scene - You'll know it if You'll ever watch this. Also, it really is about teenagers. Do You remember that time when what people thought about You was the most important thing and every last thing seemed impossibly big? When not being invited somewhere or breaking up seemed like a death sentence? Yeah, that's what those kids are all about. There's no great message, no pathos - just a bunch of highschoolers going bananas over prom decorations, dresses and dates. Perfect for not having to think night. =}
Oh, by the way, by 'highschoolers' I mean 'the mostly twenty-something bunch of actors that make the really teen sophomores look like middle school material'. The guy who plays the Wronged Rebel - thomas McDonell - is my age. By the by, he's also playing in "Dark Shadows". He's going to play young Barnabas, which is a brilliant casting, far as I'm concerned since the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw him? "OMG they cloned Johny Deep!" =D
