CANON SYNOPSIS:
Red X is a thief shrouded in mystery. While originally the identity was assumed by Robin of the Teen Titans in order to get closer to Slade and get the villain to reveal his plans, when his friends and his enemy discovered the deception, he abandoned the identity. Locking the Red X costume and its dangerous multitude of weapons systems away, Robin intended it never to see the light of day again, a mistake he would never repeat.
But sometimes, mistakes aren't so easily undone.
The suit was stolen by a skilled thief from where Robin had held it, and turned its functions to crime, taking on the same moniker as Robin, when he had worn the suit: Red X. With the functions of the suit, his own fighting skills, and a ruthless cunning, the thief proved more than able to hold his own against Robin and the Teen Titans.
Despite his antagonistic role, Red X is not evil, merely selfish, his only stated goal being to "look out for number one." Even this selfishness, however, is somewhat questionable, as Red X has demonstrated some degree of honor or goodness, at one point saving Robin and the Teen Titans, and, on another occasion, having been saved by Robin during a race, taking most of the other villains out of the race.
While his alignment, and even his motives, are nebulous, one thing is certain about the mysterious thief known as Red X: he is a force to be reckoned with.
ONORATA-VERSE BACKGROUND:
Few would believe the origin of the mysterious thief known as Red X. Once a mere street rat named Dante Bianchi, he scrounged for scraps to survive. However, early in life he was corralled into a small thieves' guild in that city, far from Reggio Calabria-- but just as corrupt, and just as opulent. There, for the sake of his survival, he quickly proved a natural at thievery, demonstrating quick reflexes, light feet, and a keen mind. Rising quickly through the ranks, even though he was still young, he soon realized that his future with this ragtag band would be limited, and that his abilities might be able to lead him to yet greater heights.
Abandoning his previous band, the ambitious young thief presented himself before the largest and most powerful thieves' guild in the city. While initially jokingly given a seemingly impossible assignment, a suicide mission, after he succeeded, barely breaking a sweat to do so, he was quickly brought into the fold.
A determined prodigy at the art of thievery, the young rogue learned from the guild as he honed his skills even more than before, mastering the art of deception and becoming a skilled fighter in addition to his other abilities. Finally, having accumulated wealth undreamed of before the arrival of their prodigy, the guild developed a suit for him that would allow him to become the greatest of all thieves, unmatched in his profession.
And, indeed, he did prove the greatest of all thieves. Seeing his chance to work for himself alone, to be beholden to none, to be free, he grasped it stealing the suit from its creators, from his masters.
Fleeing his own city to Reggio Calabria, he shed the name that he had held before for two new ones: Aloysius Di Luca, the young gentleman, supported by a far away, wealthy relative and Red X, the mysterious, uncatchable thief. Combining his own natural prodigy with the suit's abilities, he easily became the most skilled thief in the city, accumulating massive wealth, living in the lap of luxury when not engaging in his nighttime "outings".
Despite his daring, Red X, wary of old masters and those who might yet seek to master him, has been careful to avoid incurring the wrath of either the Monacello or the Vescovo with his thefts, instead striking at minor houses, or wealthy families without strong connections to either house. However, he knows the houses will not forever ignore the mysterious thief with extraordinary abilities, nor will the Antimafia Commission...
