Jeffrey Dahmer being abducted by aliens

As I entered the gate to the parking lot venue yesterday, I was asked for my ID then told by the gatekeeper "I can only give you a wristband if you're going to get fucked up." I said I'd let the bartender know that getting me drunk was a requirement and hopefully they'd take care of me. Good to see the doormen have a good sense of humor about their duties. However, between the high drink prices and wanting to wait until the club night for drinking anything I don't think I imbibed at all for most of the day.

When I was much younger I was pretty into Einherjer and figured I might as well catch them. They were only a three piece and I expected a bit fuller band, but they sounded great and I dug their set.

After them it was off to the Soundstage to catch Full of Hell. They were another band I'd not listened to a ton but liked what I'd heard and were eager to see more of. I dug the mix of grind/noise they had going and were one of the more intense acts I saw yesterday. Antigama were next and I caught a little of their set before hanging out with some friends outside.

In previous years several of my friends had displayed quite a bit of resourcefulness when it came to secreting alcohol in public areas. This time we walked under a tree where there was one of those large time and temperature signs outside a bank. Brett proceeded to reach inside the sign and pull out a bottle of rotgut whiskey. I sat out there for a while and had some good conversation with a couple of guys I'd known in passing here and there but had never really talked to at length.

I caught a little bit of Tryptikon's set at the lot and was a bit disappointed it didn't feature the titan class transformer destroying the city or some such thing. Engorged were one of the better bands I'd seen at a previous fest and they were every bit as good last night.

A friend had recommended I check out Adversarial and they ended up not sucking. They played some pretty good no-bullshit death metal and kept me engaged enough to watch their whole set. I had listened to a bit of Gnaw Their Tongues beforehand and, like Full of Hell, were a band I was looking forward to checking out. Unlike Full of Hell they didn't deliver. Their setup consisted of a guy on bass and vocals and another guy behind a table with a laptop and some noize boards. It was barely a band as much as it was a glorified version of someone pushing play on itunes. Makes me wonder if the noise guy was just checking his facebook for the whole set.

That evening had been scheduled for craft beer night at the Cloud Club once again. Everyone eventually drifted up there and pulled out all the custom libations they'd brought from wherever for a few hours of beer sampling and general revelry.
