Things at work this week were altered a bit with me having a three day training course on more intermediate Mac support training. We don't get a ton of Mac-related issues on my shifts, but it's nice to have some working knowledge of the system. My own experience actually using them is pretty limited and I've never had a strong desire to gain any more, nor have I had want to purchase one so this was a good course overall.
The introductory course I'd taken a few months back went well - the instructor had actually been engaging and being in there with other non-noobs made for no dumb questions or people having trouble following along. There's definitely some interesting capabilities within the system, but I still don't see myself buying one. The main takeaway from the experience was having a job that features non-sleep-inducing training courses and coworkers that I actually didn't mind going to get lunch with.
I had to get back to a somewhat regular day schedule to be at the classroom by 8:30 each morning and got a brief taste of what it was like to operate on such a timetable once again. Sometimes I want to get back on that schedule so that it's easier to get stuff done and indulge in things that goes on when I'm working, but found myself having an awful time sleeping once again. If I were to be on the day shift full time again I can see myself once again struggling with sleeping enough and feeling like ass come the evening. Still, it's something I might be able to acclimate to.
The main deterrent is how burnt out I would no doubt get. Some of the other day shift guys told me how exhausting it gets, and I remember how it was all too well from the brief periods where I worked it. We've been swamped in recent months and I think dealing with all that would drive me up the wall. Also reminds me I should get cracking on some other projects I've got.
