[Around town] flameyedhunter April 24 2011, 16:57:55 UTC
[A little girl in ridiculous 1950's clothing and carrying a long object wrapped tightly in green cloth looks over as she is approached.]

All right what do you want to know?

[Her eyes quickly gloss over the long object, and she instinctively has a feeling that it was a weapon.

She raises her guard a little, but it doesn't show on her face or demeanor.]

What is this place, and where is it on Magvel? [She needs to leave, but even if she manages that, not knowing in which part of the continent she is won't be any more helpful.]

You're not on Magvel, you're on earth. I'm sorry.

[She looks around and says]

This place is named Mayfield.

[...What]

I've never heard of it. Magvel is the continent, you don't know where that is?

The continent we're on is North America, and no, I haven't ever heard of it, I'm sorry.

...

Is this another dimension? [She's no ace at sorcery, but Ewan's relayed to her enough stories to make this somewhat plausible. But then...

Why her?]

You could say that, yeah. [she sighs, reaching into her pocket, and hands the girl the emergency pamphlet. One of the beauties of mayfield programming is that EVERYONE is literate, well, at least their drones are.]

[Marisa never went to school. She was taught by her father the basics - which mostly consisted of swordsmanship, how to survive under very frugal conditions, and... minimal reading to accept jobs and get by.

Her eyes blandly gloss over some words, but for the most part, her expression doesn't change as she scans the pamphlet.

...

Okay no she stopped at "the list of events", after having somewhat grasped the basic idea of this weird town.]

I'm not a tactician. I can't make use of this information.

It's important to keep it in mind, trust me on that. Do you have any questions? Maybe I can help.

[NOT THAT SHE WANTS TO OR ANYTHING. TSUN TSUN]

[/can't tell the difference anyway...

She hands the paper back to Shana.]

I don't see how I can use this, but I need to know my situation. What am I expected to do?

Well, if you want to get home, help everyone else Escape.

I can fight. [She rests her hands on the knives at her hips.] But I need an actual sword.

Well, if you're lucky, you might get it back eventually. Sometimes the mailman comes by with some of your stuff.

There's no weaponry?

Only what you bring with you. I'm told the hardware store has guns and axes but they won't let girls buy them.

And I don't really go in for anything that isn't up close and personal myself.

[She actually has a bit of a verbal twitch when she says the word gun.]
