No really, i'm still alive...

Sooo it’s probably about time I updated, and Thursday and Friday nights merit an update.
Firstly...I've finished my first year of university...which is insane because at this time last year, university wasn't even an option for me. The course is really awesome, I’m absolutely loving it (people have cringed when I’ve told them what I’m doing, but Art History/Theory is great...no really...). COFA is awesome, also.
Umm, what else to say? Well, on the Uni front, not much else…it’s been tough, sure, but it’s the same with everyone.
So the last two nights have been super awesome!

Thursday Night: Sarah Blasko, @ Newtown

Andrew, Matt, Chris and I went to see the absolutely stunning Sarah Blasko at the Newtown RSL. There are no words to describe how gorgeous Ms Blasko is, and how fantastic her set was...but I have pictures, several pictures! Umm, I’ll be uploading them soonish (they're HUUUUUUUUUGE photos, so I’ll have to resize them), so I’ll chuck an edit on the end of this entry with the linkies.
Matt was obsessed with touching things, he kept spinning the wheel on the equipment box infront of us (we got front row...woot!), and he wanted to touch Sarah's sleeves (his wish was granted at photo time). The opening act, Jack Ladder (not rabbit, as Matt thought) was alright, definately funky with his wobbly head of hair. And then Sarah came on, she had a violin and cello on stage with her (and her bass player alternated between a regular and double bass)...it was so beautiful. She played most of the material from "What The Sea Wants, The Sea Will Have" and some songs from "The Overture and the Underscore" - including "Perfect Now" during which i cried, and had Matt laugh at me...=P Evil Child! Anyways, we loitered for a while post-gig, Andy and I grabbed a set-list each and got Sarah to sign them. We peer pressured Andy into buying a shirt, and we all got photos with her. Sarah Blasko is the most adorable musician, EVER, she's so incredibly sweet. The ride home was fairly amusing too...with Andy not realising that a car had stopped because of a red light and yelled at Matt "AHHH! THAT CAR'S STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD!!" and Matt's stories of people trying to roll him whilst he's driving.

Friday: Markets By Moonlight @ The Rocks

I met up with Anthea (from Uni - but ended up missing Louise because it was wayy too crowded at the Mercantile hotel where we were post Mark Sholtez) and we strolled around the stalls -- but not before i made a complete fool of myself, by yelling into a phone "OH MY GOD ITS MARK SHOLTEZ! HES WARMING UP, ANDREW! WHERE THE HELL ARE YOOU!?!?!" and almost stacking it after slipping on a laminated sign...because im smooooth. Anyway, so apparently Chris and Andy got lost on the way up from the bar they were at before hand, with Frank, Mel and Scott making it to the stage before those two (who ran ahead because they were worried they'd be late for Mr Sholtez). We secured front row again...JACKPOT! Andrew and I took stacks of photos (again, as per the Sarah Blasko images, i'll edit later and post a link). So Mark came on stage, and may i say, not only does he have a swoon-worthy voice, but has looks to boot (and amidst my ogling, i accidently let slip the sentence "holy fuck, he is SO hot..."- and it wasn't a whisper either, to which Andy and Frank reacted with giggles...what can i say, i'm a walking embarassment...). So he performed his set, and his band were absolutely amazing-- the drum, bass and piano solos were fantastic. Frank couldnt help himself, and kept moving behind us and dancing with Chris and Mel. Umm, when "Dream about you" came on (the story behind this song, to cut it short: Frank dedicated it to me, because he is THE sweetest thing in forever) we had our promised dance, and Frank sang it to me while we danced (adorable, much?). And so i cried again (this time on Frank's shoulder...whoops). After Mark's set, we loitered around and got a group photo with him (he was a sweetie, like Sarah). Then we wandered around the markets again, where the kids got some kebabs to eat. Went to the Mercantile which was packed...then wandered down to the Four Seasons Hotel (too posh for us), then down to the Arthouse for drinks. We had to leave after a couple though, due to my parents and their paranoia. Mel left us to meet up with Ben, and we headed off to get a train home. I honestly believe we have nearly as much fun on the trip home as we do at the actual event (hour long commutes can do that to you). Andy was slightly tipsy...which amused us to no end...and mm yeah....thats about all really....It was a fantastic night...two days, really...and now, everytime i listen to "Dream About You", i cry...=| its so pretty. I should post the lyrics...
Hope all of you in LJ-land have been well! Take care xx
