This was the last major trip before i enlisted in the Army. Man! I don't even speak Mandarin well. hahahah! We just took a Jetstar flight to Taiwan (quite cheap as it was on offer then, around $540 for both of us for return tickets! )
All jet set and ready to go to taiwan!
When we reached the hotel, hahahaha Muthu popped out from Irene's suitcase!!!! LOL!!! He tagged along for the taiwan trip!! :D poor mumu had to stay home because we were afraid he too "fragile" later get damaged in-flight (^^)""""
Since our hotel (Royal Castle) was very very near Xi Men Ding (their so-called far east plaza area) we decided to walk over at night and explore :) the feeling is totally different when you're going with your partner as opposed to when you go with your colleagues or friends :)
i was hungry!!!! so i went to the 7-11 and bought a bowl of instant noodles and....
This tasty tasty Pringles Gourmet chips! omg i loved it!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 2 : Taiwan heritage centre!
We went to the "Taiwan's Story Museum" (Taiwan gu shi guan)
Lol first thing we saw was Lao Fu Zi, and to think i always thought he was from Hongkong!
Over there , the different eras of Taiwan's rise to modern society were captured in sections that housed some very old-school stuff man!
A typical taiwanese home in the yesteryear?
Irene posing with some gay bananaboy that looks kinda cute?
Super old radio ?????
HAHAHA Water pump! located right in front of the toilets.
Us in an old classroom! *(we were really in the same class in secondary school since sec 3)
Ooooooold car
there were also old-school games to play , as you can see i'm playing some throw the hook onto the bottle thing to win some prizes LOL~~
Irene tried her hand at this game where we needed to lift the bottle upright and leave it standing without letting it roll out of the circle! We never could do it. (T_T)"""
Some old-school ping pong rollerball machine
When we left, we saw a building COVERED in roots and leaves. My goodness!
Next stop - Wu Fen Pu (五分埔) Shopping there was fun, but also quite hectic as we did not really know which way to go (honestly to me it was like a Maze there) lol
after leaving wu fen pu, we went to Din Tai Fung to have dinner
we had la mian (noodles) , Xiao Long Baos and tried this fried rice thingie!
The thing that struck me was 100% of the staff were so god-damn friendly and bowing all the way we thought we were in japan ! they were really like japanese with their actions, which made them all seem very very very polite and courteous!
Over at Xi Men Ding again at night, we went over to explore this shop that was similar to HMV (or was it actually HMV?) and i saw A-nation stuffs , including Ayu stuffs for sale!
In another shop nearby i spotted earphones that were nicely decorated ! Irene almost bought one but it was rather pricey lol so we skipped it first, deciding to come back at a later date if we did not buy much stuff! There were quite a few designs to choose from that all looked nice to me :)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 3 - Oh no !!! Irene's sick with a fever!!!!!!!
We spent the earlier part of the day at the hotel where she rested!
After that we went to Kee Lung (基隆)
Sit old school train go some more omg it was the first time i ever sat one!! hahahaha!
Poor irene , still recovering from the fever , taking this pic in front of the Kee Lung night market where we heard we could eat some nice stuffs!
We met a mutual friend, Michael and he showed us around for even more yummy stuff!
The last thing we tried was steamed buttery crab! The meat was very tender and succulent with occasional spasms of buttery taste when we ate lol !!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 4 -
We met Michael and his girl Emily and he brought us to a place nearby Xi Men Ding to have lunch, it was very much like Yong Tau Foo except there were some stuffs i totally never seen before !!!
After lunch, we went to the Green Sogo , as my aunt had asked me to grab certain cooking ingredients for her and to the best of our knowledge, we would be able to acquire them at the supermarket in the basement of the green sogo.
There were SO YUMMY PASTRIES AND OTHER THINGIES!!! Too bad we had lunch already , we were feeling so full !!! otherwise those yummy stuffs will be OURS omg look so tempting those stuffs!!!
After green sogo, we went to the Taipei underground mall to walk walk :)
When evening came , we went to Yang Ming Shan's base (阳明山) and there was a hot-springs facility there that you can enjoy dinner first before going in to relax in a private room
There was this "Fruit + flowers Infused tea" that tasted quite nice! lol i never seen before in SG so i took a snapshot of it!
then came the food!
I think this was frog's leg meat (i did not eat it - i hate frog's legs lol)
Miscellaneous meat and others
There was a thing called Yuan Si Juan (some kinda pastry) that had peanut filling inside, covered by a crisp outer layer of pastry!! IT WAS YUMMY!!!!
Well that concludes day 1 to day 4 of the 6day-turned 8 day trip during nov 2007 to taiwan!!!
Will update again when i finally graduate from BMT during June' 11th's Passing Out Parade YAY DAMN YOU JUNGLE !!! YOU'RE NEVER GONNA GET ME!!!!!!!!!!!!
