I walked in the door and Miss Pixy greeted me. Now, usually this grey furball greets me with disdain and a hiss - I think she's never gotten over the betrayal of me moving out seven years ago. (Was it that long now? Time flies!) This time the empress of the house sniffed my hands cautiously, and I apologized for smelling like a sheltie. She rubbed her head in greeting and marking, then looked me in the eye, yowled, and stalked with tail high in the air directly over to the depleted food dish while miaowing imperiously.
Love you anyway, Pixy.
This morning discovered an awesome recipe for pesto. I have a hard time with pesto since I can't keep basil alive in the cool wet Alaskan summers - and pine nuts are expensive. This called for lamb's quarters, which was growing all along the front of the house where I'm staying (was, because I just harvested it!), pecans, garlic, and olive oil. Once again, something amusing but time- and labor-intensive in the mortar and pestle and faster but annoying in the blender proved easy and quick in the food processor. Technology is a girl's best friend!
For now, a little more web-surfing so the cats have a good time staring out the storm door (more interesting to them than I am), and then off to work on my plane!
