Dumped laptop at Benq offices yesterday. I give up trying to fix it. It's a shame, really. I love staying up until 3am with my laptop, reading. Oh well. This holiday is zooming by so quickly. Stopped by at (the?) Sino Center in Mong Kok-- so many pretty shiny things, but I didn't get any. Stopped by manga place too, but again, nothing. I still want to get Wild Adapter, but it's highly unlikely that I'll ever find it. Sigh. Was planning to write and have coffee at PCC, but I PMSed and decided to get alcohol instead. Went to Central and had this... orange-y... vodka drink. Didn't get drunk, which was pleasing. Went to another bar and had Irish coffee with whiskey, which resulted in me feeling very, very happy, along with slightly sleepy, and then muchly hyper. Went to Festival Walk afterward to help my brother buy the GBA Final Fantasy games, as well as an XBox controller. Saw BtVS: Chaos Bleeds for the PS2, so I got that too.

I'm a total gaming n00b. The shopkeeper was like, "This is the US version. Is your PS2 US version?" Meh? "If your PS2 is Japanese, it won't be able to play." Wow, that's... meh? How do you check? "Uh... I don't know. Where'd you buy your PS2?" In uh, Hong Kong? "Oh. Uh. I uh. Um."

Man, stupid shopkeeper. Why is he working in an electronics shop if he doesn't know how to check for this kinda stuff?

Anyway. Yes. Uh. I brought the game home (duh) and it works, thankfully. It's addictive, but that's because I get great satisfaction from (successfully) making vamps go 'poof'. I don't play games much, aside from Halo on the XBox-- the last games I ever remember really getting into are the ones in arcades, and the Sega Saturn/Megadrive. Those are old. I always get pwned by the fancy controls:

Game!Giles: Press the L1 to stake the vampires.
Moi: Right. *presses every button except the L1*
Game!vamps: AHAHAHA. *kickpunchkickthrowbites*
Game!Buffy: AHHHHHHH. *dies*

That was two minutes into the game, by the way. Yes. Two minutes. It's cool, though. I still get fiddly with the controls, but at least I know how to not die now. Watching Willow 'punch' made me crack up. Most pathetic attempt at punching ever-- although she rocks for being able to do magic. Xander really bites, but you can pick up nifty holy water gun things. The cemetary was the scariest part so far, methinks. First I fight vamps, then I fight zombies, then spiders, then these hideous things that never seem to die. I was like, "GAHHH! HOW MANY TIMES MUST I GET YOUR LIFE BAR TO NIL?!" before I (literally) accidentally staked it.

"RAWR," saith the ugly thing. And then it died.

"DING!" saith I. Then I proceeded to panic and made Buffy run around waving her stake like a maniac.

There was also this part in a factory that made me laugh. As Xander, I'm meant to go around and rescue all these people trapped in rooms. I'm naturally panicky when it comes to playing games I'm unfamiliar with where I actually have a life bar. Xander runs into a room and stakes three vamps, then busts into a boarded-up room. A man runs out. I panic.

Xander: HUNH! *breaks down boards*
Man: *runs out*
Moi: AHHHH! KILL! STAB! MAIM!!
Man: OH THANK YOU THA-- UGHHHH!
Game: Objective failed. YOU SUCK.

;-;

There's another part where Willow runs into a room with a large pool of blood and says something about it being too thick for her to swim through-- not that she'd want to anyway. I make her run all over the place, not exactly knowing what I'm meant to do. There are valves, so I make her turn them. An alarm goes off. I panic. I run back into the room with blood. Part of it looks brown, so naturally I assume that it's crusted over, or something.

Moi: RUN, WILLOW, RUN ON THE BIG SCAB!
Willow: *runs-- and falls straight through* AHHHHHHH!!
Game: My God, you really do suck.
Moi: ... I thought she said that blood was thick? o_O

Meh. Anyway. 'Tis fun, if a little scary. I tend to get scared in action games. I prefer adventure-- like Monkey Island. Or Chasm, the netgame. That's really fun. Halo's the only action game I really enjoyed and wasn't afraid of... because I normally play it with my brother, who runs ahead and kills everyone for me. AHAHAHAHA.

*is smacked*

No, seriously. I feel sorry for Alice. When we go to arcades, I'm always the one screaming and cursing non-stop. I mean, aside from when we play drumming games. I get worked up in nearly every other kind of game. She's pro for not being totally embarrassed by me. Hee.

Methinks this computer may be freezing any time soon. So I shall post. Er. Ta!
