John Watson was anything but unassuming or ordinary. He had quickly become one of the most extraordinary people Sherlock had ever met. It wasn't that he had a great intellect, or he struck some unusual figure that stood out in a crowd. He was a soldier, loyal to the end, even from the very beginning. He had killed a man for someone who might as well have been a complete stranger at the time. John was not a man you wanted to cross, for he would do anything for his strong morals, for his fierce devotion to his friends, those he cared about, those he thought worthy protecting. He grounded Sherlock, reminded him of the things that really mattered, and made him more human.
