I have no clue. I haven't remembered that yet, and even then, his argument probably comes from his madness.

Anyway, what I do remember is this: There was a room in a temple in Daein that we found, with writing on the wall. Old writing. Done in the ancient tongue. Luckily, the heron prince could read it.

Turns out Ashnard kidnapped Reyson's older sister and tried to make her release the dark god. Every day he'd try to force her to sing the galdr of release, but each time she wouldn't do it.

So Ashnard, the instigator of this war, tried to release the dark god.

Judging from our present, he failed.

It'd require turning Tellius into a sea of chaos, but yeah.

So that's what the war was for.

Yeah. And he didn't need it on him, either. And he didn't have it on him because my parents sneaked it out of Daein.

We're playing right into his plan. The war for Crimea, all of it. But he hasn't left us with another choice.

That doesn't matter. I'm under contract to Princess Elincia. It's up to her, not me.

So the world is threatened by a Dark God and you'll remain obedient to a few pieces of gold.

What else is there to do? We need to end the war before it gets too out of hand.

Our only other choice is an unconditional surrender to Daein. And even then he'll attack Gallia, and there's no way in hell we can convince the laguz to lay down their arms when attacked by beorc. I don't think there's room to wonder if it'll work. We have to make it work.
