Monkey Jump?!

So...yet another week in Deutschland has come and gone! I cannot believe how quickly time is going by... It's almost December and the Christmas market begins tomorrow!!! I'm so excited because everything is decorated and is really festive. This week was a realtively uneventful one, seeing as I just had class and did homework as usual. Tuesday, Barbara and I went to choir as usual where she was asked by a German, in English, if she was American! Then an American asked her where she was from and didn't believe her when she said 'Germany.' Apparently, she's been spending far too much time around us 'Amis' (Americans) and has developed an American accent when she speaks German!!!! Imagine that.

On Wednesday, Barbara, Sebastian, Elliot, Max (Sebastian's friend), Mark & I all went to the StuSie Bar to dance the night away - afterall, it was 50 cent shot night ;-)! We had a good time 'shaking like a Polaroid' and luckily, I was able to sleep in the next day cause I didn't have school. After working all day on a middle high German translation, I was ready to get out of my room and do something. So, after little debate, Marla and I decided to head into town to meet Katie to shop at H&M. I found a sweater that I liked, but it was 30 Euros and, unfortunately, I'm not made of money! After that, we went home so that Barbara, Sebastian and I could go running. Exercise - boy do I need it! It felt really good and I think we're going to try to do it every third day or so.

After a quick shower, Barbara, Marla and I all went to Schlappen. We hung out there for a while and then proceeded to go to Uni Kebab for some french fries. Barbara talked to the guys in Turkish and managed to get them to offer us free tea, but we didn't want to stay, so we headed home. Since the Straßenbahns (street cars) weren't running that often, we decided that it would be faster to walk on the tracks to get home. We were headed back when Barbara freaked out and said 'STRAßENBAHN!!!,' so we hopped over the short fence and onto the sidewalk with plenty of time to spare. The train was so far off, we had to wait to see which one it was! It was pretty funny to see us all freaking out though. We're all too good to be really bad! We realized that it was the Partywagen, a two-car tram that you can rent for 99 Euros and it takes you all over the city while you drink and dance inside. Wild, eh?! Oh the Germans... ;-)

Friday night was Max's birthday party, so Barbara, Sebastian, Inken and I went there to hang out. It was fun times just chilling with everyone, but by 1 o'clock, I was pretty tired so Barbara and I headed home. Saturday was a nice relaxing day as all I did was go with Marla into town to buy her mom some Hummel plates. Then we headed back, rounded up Elliot, Barbara and her friend Johanna and we headed into town for the 'Monkey Jump.' That's where you pay 10 Euros for the entire night and you can get into somewhere around 30 bars and clubs without a cover fee. It was a lot of fun as we got to go to a bunch of places that we probably wouldn't have gone into before because they're so expensive. At a club named 'Maria,' there was a crazy funk and soul cover band that was called 'Cosmic Soul.' The lead singer was from Florida and the other singer was from Trinidad and looked like Usher. The rest of the band was German; the keyboardist kept making weird Johnny Depp faces and the bassist looked like the East German guy from 'Cool Runnings!' It was absolutely hilarious. The lead singer was so drunk...Over the course of the set, him and Elliot became friends of some sort. He even jumped on Elliot's shoulders for one song! It was insane! Needless to say, it was 3:30 and 32°F out before we got home - it was a blast!

Today has been another nice lazy day...I got coffee and breakfast with my friend Tiffany at 'Aspekt' and then headed home to clean my room. I also got to watch some SNL (Celebrity Jeopardy!), Southpark, and Simpsons (lots of S's) on Elliot's computer. I think when I return, I'll try to get my wee bit of homework done. Tonight, Sebastian, Barbara and I are going to go jogging around the StuSie See again. Yay for exercise in the bitter cold! Doesn't get any better, does it?!

Well, I'm out of here! Till next Sunday, then?! ;-)

-Annabelle :-)

P.S. - It's been snowing on a off here for the past couple of days. Nothing has stuck around here yet, but the cars coming down from the mountains have inches of snow on top of them!
