More News From Freiburg...
Things have improved drastically since I lasted posted as I have made many new friends from around the world. On Friday night, a huge group of international students when out to the Schloßberg beer garden, which sits atop a hill and overlooks the city. It was absolutely gorgeous and we had a blast hanging out and speaking to each other only in German! After all, it's our common language and what we're here to practice. It was thrilling to actually have an intelligent conversation in a foreign language! Usually it's a struggle to get anything out. And for those of you who may be wondering, I have not had anything to drink yet! There is still time and right now, it's fun being the designated walker and watching everyone else get smashed! It is sad though, drinking games don't hold the same challenge when you're not drunk... ,-)
Today is a really quiet day because it is Sunday, and since it's Germany, everything is closed. Things are open at weird times here. For example, 3 hours in the morning, 2 in the afternoon and only on 3 or 4 days a week! It's incredibly confusing and difficult to try to plan anything. Since we have to take the train to get back to the StuSie (Studenten Siedlung - student apartments), we can only stay out until like 12 or 12:15 on the weekends. Hopefully, this coming weekend, we will go to a Disko and be able to stay out longer since we'll have money to take a taxi back. Well, I must dash. Keep in touch!
