Okay people, you know the drill. If you've been interviewed before, you're not eligible. If you haven't been interviewed by me, comment and I will give you five questions. You will answer said questions in your own journal, and offer to pose five questions for anyone who asks to be interviewed. Capice? Excellent. On with the show:
1. I know you're not dead yet (or are you?) but write me your obituary.
Christopher James Mayer, aged 30, leaves behind a mother, father, and brother. He will be missed.
That's all I want.
2. Do you believe in love at first sight? If you do or don't, how do you know?
Huh. You know, I don't really know the answer to this one. I did, then I didn't, then I did, then I didn't.... I think I do. Kinda. I believe in soulmates, which isn't the same thing. There's a feeling one gets when you meet someone who will be significant in your life. I've had this feeling with everyone who mattered, romantic or just friendly. But still, when you find that one person, that soulmate, I think there's something deep that resonates, even if you don't know what it is yet.
Love at first sight is just your sex organs chomping at the bit.
3. So everyone has places where they have wanted to have sex but haven't for one reason or another. You have to tell me yours.
Outdoors. Do I have to tell you why I haven't? I've always wanted to have sex while camping with my significant other. I haven't yet because I've never had the chance... and unless things change, I don't think I'll ever get the chance.
4. Everyone experiences heartbreak for the first time, and sometimes it isn't a girl or a guy we like who breaks our heart. Tell me about yours.
I'll be honest here. I don't remember well enough to tell the story. Oh, I remember the heart break, but it was drawn out over a long period of time. Off and on for almost two years. A few people who read this journal might even be able to guess who I'm talking about. It's a period of my life that has given me memories that hurt, shame, or thrill me all in a very short span of time. A roller coaster of angst and stupidity. Although, still being honest, I'm not sure that was the first time my heart really broke. I always joke that I was born with a hole in my heart. Childhood is a very turbulent time, and children can be cruel. I've had my heart broken so many times, it seems like one long smackdown sometimes. That's the last I'm saying about it.
5. You're a writer. I'm a writer. Tell me your writing philosophy.
Well, if I could actually write something worth reading, this would have more weight. Stories are there, all around us. Some people can just let them out. They tell themselves. Everyone has at least one story in them. Other than that, I subscribe to the "write often and regularly" philosophy. Set aside a time each day and just write something. Eventually, you'll get your story.
