So, for the past 3 hours I’ve been mastering the ancient art of Soldering. After reading some online guides and a magazine article my confidence increased somewhat. I decided to first learn the removal of solder (de-soldering) before learning soldering since newbies like me are prone to make a mess with the liquid metal. And with the help of copper braid de-soldering is a piece of cake.

My first successful solder job was to the circuit set I broke when I was in 5th grade. In the set, each electrical component is soldered to a waferboard with pins that fit into the big peg board. And in my free spirit I had inadvertently burnout one of the transistors cutting the possible circuit projects in half and causing me to lose interest. So I de-soldered the part that I killed and installed a new transistor jiffy quick.

The next step is to muster up enough courage to try soldering a whole circuit onto a board and basking in my blinky LED light circuit glory!!!. This hobby would be a lot easier if Radio Shack didn’t sell merchandise that’s crappy, mislabeled, returned etc…
