Burned Nerves

Mar 05, 2009 20:20

Many times in my life I've been pretty certain that my nerves were totally frayed. If you know me at all, you may say that my nerves are pretty frayed most of the time. Especially now that the district has cut my position at my school, which means either a)I'll be overaged to another school...somewhere in the 200-square-mile area that is WCSD, or b)God will shine His favor on me and I'll find a job back in the midwest (preferably in the Madison-ish area).

But now my doctor actually wants to burn my nerves- literally. I've been having back problems for a while now- it seems like the more weight I lose, the more my back hurts (crazy, I know... but it all goes back to the broken disc, and how it's rubbing around the joint). So he did a special sort of injection in me last Monday, which has made a significant difference, leading him to suggest that instead of numbing those nerves every couple of weeks/months, depending on my metabolism of the medications, that we just burn them, and while they may grow back, it would be many months, probably years, before that would happen. And I agreed to it. So some time in the next couple of weeks, I'm going to let him burn some of the nerves in the right side of my back. And then a few weeks later, he'll do the same to the left.

Doesn't that just sound crazy? I totally trust my doctor, he's been really good to me, and I feel like I'm making the right choice, but even when I mentioned it to Kelli and my folks, they were all just like, "Seriously? You're going to let the man BURN some of the nerves in your spine?"

In other news, 2 of my kids were SO stinking cute today. One girl was reading a book aloud to another girl (they each had their own copies), and whenever it was time to turn the page, she'd beep, like our books on CD do. I found it really amusing. It could be that I had too much Tylenol in my system though. I'm 80% sure I have at least an ear infection, if not a sinus infection also. I think I'm going to have to get a doctor's appointment after school tomorrow. 'Cause there's nothing better than being 26 and having an ear infection. Especially when you get them several times a year, yet the ENT doctor says that everything's just fine with your ears. Good times.

Peace out.
