I did my civic duty---

I donated blood today. After getting a call everyday for the past month or so, asking for me to make an appointment, I found that they were doing a blood drive here at the VA, so I was totally down with that. They actually called on monday, (because I had previously told them I was going to make an appointment later....I said this for the last three calls), and I was happy to tell them I would be donating on Thursday. It was super sweet because I was worried I would be anemic again and wouldn't be able to donate...they did have to centrifuge the test to make sure though, so it was close. I got a red arm wrap :)

I drank a ton of water (lemme tell you, if you're gonna donate, this will make it go a lot easier). I kinda freaked out because this obvious newbie was checking for veins, and the last time I had gone to the doctors for blood tests, they had a really hard time finding veins for some reason. So I was all like "crap, I'm going to get poked a dozen times"...and then he called over this chick who I had watched handle someone who was not bleeding AT ALL, so I knew that she knew her shit (thank god). He said he was a little uncomfortable with deep veins, so she offered to do it while he watched. WOOHOO!!! she got it on the first try, of course. It was a really good thing that I drank all that water. I literally filled the bag in less than 5 minutes- pretty damn fast for me, becuase I am a fast healer and tend to clot and bleed slowly....It took almost 50 minutes to wait and do screeening etc. so I was all like "SWEET!!! cookie time!!!". lol

I am feeling a little out of it right now. Not really getting any work done. Drinking lots of fluids to pass the time. I wanna go home. Nobdy is in the office- everybody has either left already or are down at American Lake. I haven't seen Donna, my immediate supervisor, since Monday, since she has family visiting and leaves before I get to work. In one word-YAY!!!! When the cat is away, the mice shall play. well, not too badly. I have gotten a fair amount of work actually done.
