Crass Consumerism

I was tired of my old phone, so I decided to call up T-Mobile to see if I could upgrade for a decent cost. I had my eye on the Motorola V330 (which is a V551 in disguise):

The initial offer from their customer service was $175 *with* the upgrade discount. Uh, no thank you, I'd sooner switch carriers to get the V551 for free. They countered offered the phone and a Bluetooth headset for $200. Gee, you're still not getting it are you T-Mobile?

A transfer to another rep gets down to business. What would I be willing to spend? $50-75. OK, let me offer you the phone for $150, but give you two months of service for free. That works out to $50 for the phone when it's all said and done.

Done and done. The phone will arrive in seven business days. They keep my business and I get a new phone. We both win.
