Some chocolates melted in their box on the dresser and then my lights flickered in the carmine afternoon.

A man tapped the Sutter-Powell fire hydrant while another chased the stream down the street. Another man stood in silent observation.

Some currents at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico made sound adjustments to the heat wave. Then there was a tick of grey radiators in the evening and a host of wool jackets found their way out of the closet. Clouds passed in my notorious eye.

Before the winter I will have found a samovar embroidered with basil leaves and Ukranian mottos to the distant sound of wings and ward off the wind.
