I feel as though i should update because i said i would. so here i am
i believe wrote on monday, which was a disaster of a kid. here's the rest of the week:

(i was assigned to the Spider group, which is about 9 or 10 severely autistic children)
Tuesday: I was put with THE cutest kids ever. Christina and Andrew, siblings about 10 and 8. Christina didn't do too much, she was just fascinated by watching others. Andrew on the other hand loved to be hugged, tickled, read to, talked to, joked with, etc. My favorite thing about him is when you squeezed his tummy, and went "squiiiish!" he would poke it back in while laughing, as if to put it right back in it's place. when he wanted you to do it to him again, he would yell "skiiish!" and it was just the qcutest thing EVER!! both of them LOVE to hold your hand, and i loved it to! they had the softest hands! you could tell when Christina was excited (swimtime!), because she would get this big smile on his face, wave her arms, and bounce a little bit. she wasn't too fond of moving around in the pool, she would just stick her leg up and down, like a water aerobics thing. anyway, that's what I learned about them! ^_^
Wednesday: I got switched from my original group, the Spiders, to be with the Beatles, because my assigned group had too many volunteers that day, and the Beatles needed some. so Heather and I switched to the Beatles. My camper was named Jen. She couldn't walk very well, and couldn't talk either. She just kind of sat down and played with anythign green (plants, leaves etc.) that she could get her hands on. Heather was put with Ashlyn, a talkative redhead, but then the Beatles got a lot of other volunteers, so she ended up on Jen with me. It was like a day off. Jen couldn't run, so we mainly sat down. by the end of the day, we were really bored and tired.
Thursday: back to the Spiders.I was put with Zac. a kid with girly mood swings. he would be perfectly fine, but start whining. uh oh, and BAM! he was sitting down, wherever he was standing or walking before. he only knew sign language, and from observing what the camp counselers did to get him to stasnd up, i was able to get what he was saying and give him a few orders. it worked out all right, though it wasn't the best camper in the bunch. it was however a fun day for the volunteers and counselers. we had a BIG water balloon fight and talked together a lot. it was fun.
Friday: friday was a whole other adventure. I was put with Jacob, a kid who I had not seen yet, because he had not come all week. Oh boy. he would have more girly mood swings, but they would last longer and he was certain;ly more violent. I don't know why his parents don't trim that boy's naiils!! whenever he was mad (lots of times because you could NEVER figure out what he wanted) he would scratch and bite. I was holding his hand (as usual with any comper) and andrew's (from tuesday) on the way down to arts & crafts, and he started to scream and claw at me. having anouther camper in my hand did NOT help me at all. i ended up with red marks down my arm and he even broke skin. i was so mad at him i swear it. he scrated me everywhere, or at least tried to. he even got me on my face earlier in the morning. by the end of the day the camp counseler had traded me the kid she was watching for him, because he was wayyyy too much to handle. it ended up all right because we always have swim time last and that was his favorite thing, so he came out smiling. I was just relieved that the week was over. I did enjoy most of it though. it was a new experience.
there were some campers i did not get:
Josiah: TALL. and i mean it, a foot taller than me, which was pretty scary actually. but once you saw that big grin on his face while he was being tickled, or when he would say "bippityboppityboo!" you knew he was just a good old boay at heart.
Jeremy: Jeremy just made you smile. at 13, he knew words and could respond to your requests with words of is own. he never disobeyed and just always had the BIGGEST smile on his face.I loved to see his smile. :)
Lanae: I didn't get to know her too well, but she sure did love to be tickled, i would just wiggle my fingers at her, and her eyes would light up, she would start laughing and get this big smile on her face.
There were some others that i didn't really get to know at all, but that's okay.
Overall I had fun. I encourage anyone to try it at least once in their life, because it is an absolute blast of a time. now i'm exhausted and happy for the weekend and my own free time, but i really want to see those kids again. the counselers too. they were so nice and easy to talk and joke with they became awesome friends.
right now though all i want to do is go steal andrew and christina, wrap them up, and give them to myself for christmas! ^_^ oh, what a happy christmas that would be. :D
