Alright. Now, normally I'm not one of those scary Womens Studies Women, they scare me, and normally I don't read THAT deeply into things, but this is a little much to overlook. I've come across a few lists of what comicdom has done to women and the lists are fucking HUGE. WTF! fandom

The problem I always have with those lists of "oh god comics are horrible to women" is that a lot of the same shit--yes, even rape and tentacle rape--happen to dudes in comics too. I'll give them that it's not at quite the same level, but there's not as much gender disparity as the really loud people would like us to think. Comics aren't just bad places to be women, they're bad places to be ANYTHING up to and including sentient planets.

I'll say yes, it happens to both, but the lists of people trying to argue the whole ' it happens to the men folk too' are MUCH shorter, and the male heros tend to come back from death stronger, women don't, and get raped and murdered as plot devices a HELL of a lot more often.
