"I want my fish to taste like FISH! That's why I ordered it!" -Vagina Monologues

Went to see Vagina Monologues last night. Very good, as usual. For those of you who've seen it, you know the monologue "The Woman Who Loved to Make Vaginas Happy?" the moaning one? Well, one of the moans she talks about is the college student moan: "oooohhhh...are these study rooms sound proof?...oooohhhh". My friends and I burst out laughing, because all the study rooms in our library have these signs in them that say, "these rooms are not sound proof. Your neighbors can hear you."

I realized last night that women's issues and charities are really important to me, and that I need to be doing more to support them. I think I'm going to make a small donation to planned parenthood, because they really save women's lives, and I really admire the work that they do. When I have time, I also should probably join one of the womens groups on campus, or volunteer at some women's organization in Salem. If feminism and women's issues are such a big deal to me, and since they've really made a difference in my life (not to mention that I'm probably going to be a women and gender studies minor), then I need to walk the walk, not just talk the talk.

I need to start my paper already! I'm actually really excited about writing it, I mean, as excited as I've ever been about a paper. I mean, I get to write about sex and the medieval period! Together!! Yesterday, I got to read about male homosexuality in monasteries. The day before, I got to read about lesbianism in convents. This class gives me nerdgasms every week, to borrow eye_sac's word (hey, how could we make 'nerdgasm' a history-specific term?).

Speaking of nerdgasms, Jonathan Coulton's version of "Baby Got Back" is great. I mean, I already like that song, because us big-assed ladies always deserve some appreciation, but his version is just more pleasant to listen to than Sir Mix A Lot. Also, hilarious, because he's just so...white. His version of Fountain of Wayne's "Shop Vac" is also great.

Internships and Fellowships, Summer Field Schools and REUs!!! AHHHHH! I freaked myself out so much yesterday researching stuff that i had to take a break and knit for a while to chill out. I need to find an organized, non-panic attack-inducing way to apply for these.

ACDA is approaching fast! We're leaving on Tuesday!
