“Ellie” Marco called “Mail.”
Ellie Nash groaned and pushed her books away. She looked up at Marco, “No need to yell I am right here.” She said with a smile.
“Sorry” Marco replied sheepishly. He handed Ellie the envelope. “Here”
Ellie took the envelope. She recognized the handwriting immediately and her breath caught in her chest. Craig. Quickly, without a word to Marco, she packed up her books and headed up to her room.
Once her door was shut Ellie sat down on her bed and stared at the letter. They hadn’t exchanged a single word since he got on the plane. It had been 2 months and she had managed to push Craig to the back of her mind. Now this envelope brought it all back to her. She was tempted to throw it away but she couldn’t. Instead to she took a deep breath and opened it.
Dear Ellie,
I thought about sending an email but this seems more personal. There a lot of things I want to say to you but the words are hard to find.
First, I am sorry for hurting you. I am sorry for playing with your emotions. I was messed up but that is no excuse. You didn’t deserve that. Please, please know that I never meant to hurt you.
As for what I said…I meant it. Ellie I have loved you for a long time. I hope you still love me but if you don’t, then I understand.

Ellie let the letter fall from her hand to the floor. The tears that had built in her eyes flowed down her cheeks and she chocked on a sob. She missed him. She missed him so much it hurts.
