An article in the NY Times today details that
many food banks are very short on cash/donations and some are having to close while others are rationing.
This is horrible. This is a last-ditch resource for many people in this country -- and in a season that has seen astronomical home foreclosures and spiraling debt all over the place, I have no idea what the families relying on food banks are going to do.
Sure, employment is up, but it's mostly service-secter jobs which don't really pay enough to maintain one person, let alone a family.
Why am I posting this? I don't know. I am upset and worried. Please, if you can afford to give, consider your local town/county/state/national food pantry. There's always
Second Harvest.
