It’s difficult to say just what you mean to me
Might as well try speaking Japanese
In these suits of armor a decorum prevails
This tea ceremony for when all else fails.
Fragile as porcelain, our covered smiles,
Respectful bows,
Words tumble off our tongues as if they were
banana peels.
How absurd to think that two could ever share a life as one
It’s difficult what we’ve begun.
You’re a book without a cover
I’m reduced to scenery
You have to look for me in the midst of crowded streets.
Underneath the magnifying glass
A-hunting we will go
It’s difficult but even so -
I’ll honor you with irony
We’ll rummage through the days,
Our days.
