[ Dexter switches on his webcam. All that can be seen behind him is an almost sterile kitchen. This song is playing, slightly muffled, from somewhere off-screen. Dexter looks worried. When he does speak it's softly, so that no one else in the house can hear. Sorry to be thematic... My step-daughter has been listening to this all afternoon

You think so? All music is about sex. And Astor's a smart girl, I'm not.. that worried. Though the way she dresses sometimes, is scary.

I'm more worried about the fact that this Ke$ha person always seems high or drunk on - something.

I shouldn't tell her..not to listen to it, right? That would just inspire her to listen to it more.

Hm. I never really thought about it.

I dunno man, I've never had to do the whole...parent thing. [ awkward pause >: ] But from personal experience? Yeah, tell a kid not to do something and that'll just make them want to do it more. I know I've done that a few times to my mom.

That's what I thought. Do you have any ..suggestions, for music that's still cool, but - less frightening?

I dunno, music's a pretty personal thing. It kinda depends what sort of thing she's into.

I think she just likes what's popular. You know, normal.

Is anything popular normal? I know a lot of people that really like Lady Gaga and she's one of the weirdest people around.

Among other things, yeah. We had a glee assignment where the girls - and Kurt - covered one of her songs and they all dressed crazy.

He loved it. Well, most of it. Not the part where he got bullied for wearing weird clothes, obviously.
