[ Dexter switches on his webcam. All that can be seen behind him is an almost sterile kitchen. This song is playing, slightly muffled, from somewhere off-screen. Dexter looks worried. When he does speak it's softly, so that no one else in the house can hear. Sorry to be thematic... My step-daughter has been listening to this all afternoon ( Read more... )

[You can hear the sound of paper moving around in the background. Multi-tasking. She's good at it.]

... She'll listen to it anyways if you tell her not to.

I'm pretty sure she does the dollar sign to look cool.

If a normal teenage girl is listening to it than just about everyone is.

She will? I mean, I guess she will..

It makes her look uneducated, but when I read an article about her it said her IQ is over 140.

...Really? Everyone is listening to this?

She will. If you say no it means you won't have to listen to it though.

That's probably why she did it. She was smart enough to know people would find that cool.

Yes. Teenage girls only do what everyone else does. At least that's what the normal ones do.

[...]

I don't mean literally everyone.

I don't understand.

...I guess that makes sense.

But all teenaged girls?

All normal teenaged girls?

She'll have to hide it from you if you say no so you won't have to listen to it. Simple.

Yes. They tend to have really bad taste in everything from what I understand.

Oh. Do people do that? Tell their kids not to listen to music just because they don't like it?

Especially makeup. I think she's trying to play the part of a raccoon.

Sort of. They hope the kids stop listening too.

Have you tried asking your sister to show her how to do it correctly? Assuming she knows.

Oh. Well, I don't really want to limit her.

Deb? She's..maybe not the best person for the job.

... Interesting. [She's not sure what to make of this since all she's ever known was limits.]

Know any other older females she can try to imitate then?

Uh.... Sonya? Maybe.

It really is. Father's tend to be big on rules and limits especially for their daughters.

... Doesn't she take care of Harrison?

It's not that she doesn't have rules. I just don't think I should - limit her creatively. Is that too California?

Yeah. She's our nanny.

You're her father. If that's what you feel is best and it doesn't hurt her then do it.

It wouldn't work. She's too old to think her nanny is cool enough to copy.

You don't believe it?

... [Oh God does she even want to indulge this?]

I'd fit. Or Candy.
